存在が、存在する（または消滅する）ということは、如何なるであるのか。
存在が、「存在している」ということは、あらゆる国家・民族・宗教を超えて共通の事象であるが、しかしその様態は多様である。
ましてこの世界に存在しているものは、人類がそのすべてではなく、あらゆる生命・有機物・無機物、はては世界そのものですら、私たち同様に「存在している」という現象の渦中にある。
そしてすべからくやがては滅することだろう。
Ryohei Obata is an oil painter and installation artist based in the city of Osaka. He creates oil paintings on wooden panel that often act as elements in larger site specific installations. Each painting is produced following a personal process developed and refined over the years. The paintings are rich in texture and have a depth of color in dark green hues. They are built up by laying down various precisely mixed transparent and opaque painting media in successive layers over time. During the process the interaction of each layer of painting materials is also influenced by deliberately uncontrolled variables such as ambient temperature, humidity and in particular the force of gravity. In this way, each new painting becomes a collaboration between man and nature at every step of its creation. The final image at times resembles geographical and geological textures, Japanese ceramic glazes (raku) or organic tissue as seen under a microscope. The new paintings often serve as primary structures that are then assembled together into larger installations that explore themes of man's relationship with his surroundings.
